[Light and refined Languedoc]
Clos Constantin is hidden in the bush in Pierre Hallais's hometown of Algérie. Located 20km from Montpellier, near Saint-Guillem-le-Désert, the village of Algérie is halfway between Pic-Saint-Loup and Larzac.
Gradually taking over the vineyards from his uncle, a long-time member of the cooperative, Pierre founded Clos Constantin in 2017 with his friend Samuel Durand.
The 15 hectares of vineyards are located in the AOP Languedoc and Terrasses du Larzac, divided into two plots: Font Bellet and Les Champs de Traverger. They were certified AB Organic in 2021 and Demeter Biodynamic in 2023.
The wines are meticulously vinified in the cellar, with the whites being vinified by direct pressing or maceration, and the reds by whole or destemmed bunches. Fermentation is carried out in the cellar and with wild yeasts from the grapes. The wines are aged on the lees for 6 to 24 months in stainless steel, concrete or wooden barrels, depending on the vintage.
The wine is light, full of finesse and not overly extracted.
