Toscana is now one of Europe's most famous and prolific wine regions. It is best known for its full-bodied, Sangiovese-based red wines such as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
It is located in central Italy, bordering Liguria and Emilia-Romagna to the north, Umbria and Marche to the east, Lazio to the south, and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west. The picturesque rolling hills, with medieval villages and cypress-lined avenues, attract tourists and help promote wine.
