Pais Vasco is a strongly independent region located along the coast of northern Spain, close to the Pyrenees and the border with France. In English-speaking countries, it is called Basque.
The wine of Pais Basco is Txakoli, a style unique to this region. Txakoli has an honest and simple taste. It has a refreshing style with mainly fruit flavors, a slight shine, and a strong acidity. The traditional way to drink Txakoli is to pour it from a high point to increase the effervescence (called escanciale) and bring out the best in the wine.
