標高1000〜1100m、スペインで最も高く冷涼なガルナッチャ産地のひとつから生まれる赤。房の一部を全房で仕込み、重力による緩やかな抽出の後、コンクリート、伝統的な土桶、ニュートラルなフレンチオーク大樽で14か月熟成させています。赤いベリーや土、下草のアロマにフローラルな印象が重なり、樽の香りは控えめ。花崗岩を思わせるきめ細かいタンニンとシルクのような透明感が印象的です。

It has aromas of red berries and herbs, a floral, perfumed nose, almost no oak, a medium body on the palate and finely grained tannins with granite grain.

Winemaking & technical data

After rigorous bunch selection, 30% of the bunches are de-stemmed without being crushed and pumped to the bottom of 3,300L and 1,000L stainless steel tanks and a 3,500L concrete tank.

The remaining whole bunches are transferred to tanks, where they undergo maceration at low temperature for 4-5 days before fermentation begins naturally.

Gentle extraction is achieved by gravity. After fermentation the wine is gently pressed in a vertical basket press.

Malolactic fermentation and ageing takes place over a period of 14 months, with 30% aging in concrete tanks, 40% in traditional clay vats and 30% in neutral 500L French oak puncheons.

Discovering the expressive potential of Garnacha, grown at high altitude in the Sierra de Gredos, this wine expresses powerful and complex flavors reminiscent of Burgundy.

The area in which the vineyards are located is one of the highest (1000-1100m) and coolest Garnacha growing regions in Spain.

After strict bunch selection, 20-30% of the grapes are destemmed without being crushed and then pumped to the bottom of 3,300L and 1,000L stainless steel tanks and a 3,500L concrete tank.

The remaining whole bunches are transferred to tanks where they undergo maceration at low temperature for 4-5 days before spontaneous fermentation. Gentle extraction is achieved by gravity. After fermentation, the wine is gently pressed in a vertical basket press.

The resulting wine offers aromas of red berries, earth, and undergrowth. It is medium-bodied with velvety tannins, harmonious and supple, with silky clarity and a fresh, lively finish.

Because these are beverages, we are generally unable to accept returns or exchanges for reasons of personal preference. Please order with care.

Even with chilled delivery, a rapid change in temperature can cause slight seepage. This does not affect the quality of the wine, and we are unable to offer an exchange or refund in such cases. Every bottle is visually checked before packing.

Where the fault is ours, returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery.
We are unable to help after that period, so thank you for your understanding.

Return postage

Where the fault is ours — a faulty bottle or the wrong item — we cover the cost of return. Returns and exchanges for reasons of personal preference are not accepted.

About the producer

Alto Horizonte

[Project to develop the charm of cool, high altitude Garnacha]

The Alto Horizonte project is based in the villages of Nabatalgordo and Villanueva de Ávila, in the province of Ávila. Stretching along the north and south banks of the Rio Alberche, the region's mountainous terrain creates one of the most unique and challenging viticultural regions in all of Spain. Due to population decline, many of the old vineyards have been lost and no new vines have been planted.

Due to the diversity of the terrain in the Sierra de Gredos, it is not possible to find large vineyards, but instead there are numerous small plots (micro-parcels) of old Garnacha vines scattered throughout the region. This region is one of the coolest Garnacha growing areas in Spain and is one of the highest, at over 1,100m in altitude.

Aurelio and Micaela's goal is to celebrate the region's remaining old Garnacha vineyards and promote their importance to Spain's viticultural heritage.

The soil is granite and varies in depth from plot to plot.

Some of the grapes are left whole and some are destemmed before use.
The wine is vinified in concrete tanks, stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, and the original character of the wine is preserved through fermentation using wild yeasts, careful extraction and aging in stoneware vessels, as well as the use of concrete tanks and large French oak barrels.
