Famille Fabre

【Fourteen generations of passion, and wines of honesty and invention】

For more than fourteen generations the Fabre family have poured their passion into wine, honing both their craft and the business behind it. They have been making wine since 1605, have never wavered in their loyalty to the land, and today own five châteaux in the Languedoc.

The environment and careful work matter enormously here, and the family devote themselves to drawing out the character of the terroir through rigorous plot selection, viticulture, and their skills in vinification and élevage.

The Fabres cherish a close relationship with nature. Louis Fabre led the conversion to organic viticulture from 1991, making the family among the first in the Languedoc to farm and vinify with the environment in mind. That priority remains, along with a constant search for new methods and for answers to the environmental questions of the day.

Generation after generation, they have nurtured an innate instinct for invention. From André Fabre's harvest wagonette — a small cart for carrying grapes — to the colorimeter used by Louis Andrieu to measure a wine's colour precisely, an openness to new ideas has been a pillar of their commitment to quality.

Bound by affection as much as by blood, the Fabre family is made up of many talented people who share a single ambition. They have built their family story on the values of honesty and generosity.

From bud to fruit, from juice to wine, from vineyard to bottle, the Fabres work with humility wherever they are, face to face with the rigours of nature.
