[Unique elegance woven from tradition and terroir passed down through nine generations]
Domaine Montrose has been producing wine since the 16th century, and the Coste family has owned the winery for nine generations.
In 1701, Joseph Alazar, an ancestor of the Coste family, was awarded the "Three Lizards" coat of arms, and as a tribute to him, this coat of arms is featured on all of the wine labels.
Located in the Hérault department in the Languedoc region, a few kilometres from Pézenas and the Mediterranean Sea, the vineyards are divided into three terroirs:
1. Clay-limestone soil: A balanced soil that produces fresh, crisp wines.
② Villa Francian terraces: Small round pebbles, originally poor in nutrients. Typical soil of this area.
3) Volcanic soil: Grape vines are planted on the slopes of volcanoes, producing wines with complex aromas and rich fruit flavors.
The combination of these terroirs gives the wines a unique character.
We try to minimize human intervention in our winemaking process, resulting in wines that are elegant and refined rather than powerful.
