Aromas of violets and stewed fruit. Very intense and deep in color. Rich on the palate with silky tannins. Delicious.

Tasting notes
It has a fairly dark color. The aroma of orange and dark fruits is accompanied by a hint of spice. The mouthfeel is smooth, and the tannins that blend all the aromas spread out. The finish also has slightly fresh tannins, and the aftertaste lasts for a very long time.

Production

A single plot of old vines (Malbec) of 1 hectare on sandy clay soils. The average age of the trees is 80 years, with the oldest dating back to 1891. 50% of the wine is made with whole bunch carbonic maceration and aged for 14 months in large barrels.

Le Rocher des Violettes

Xavier Weisskopf studied winemaking in Chablis and Beaune, and after obtaining a degree in œnologie and viticulture, he worked for four years as cellar master at Château de Saint-Cosme in Gigondas. After four years as cellar master at Château de Saint-Cosme in Gigondas, he bought his first plot of 7ha and founded Le Rocher des Violettes in 2005.
