Speri is admired the world over as one of the standard-bearers for the traditional style of Valpolicella. The estate has been in family hands for seven generations, its history reaching back to the middle of the nineteenth century.

The character it established at the outset has never been lost, and the wines still carry the identity and the quiet nobility of their land. Speri's contribution to the winemaking traditions of the Valpolicella has been immense, setting a benchmark recognised far beyond Italy, and the estate is a member of the Famiglie Storiche, the association of thirteen historic producers of the region.

The Speri family works to this day with grapes from its own vineyards alone, making its wines with the closest attention to both tradition and the environment.

In 2015 the estate gained organic certification, confirming that its wines are made without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, from one hundred per cent organic material and with nothing added.

Only grapes native to the Valpolicella go into the wines: alongside the three traditional varieties of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, the family also works with lesser-known ancient grapes such as Oseleta, Rossanella, Pelara and Cabrusina.
