Collection: Domaine Le Comte de Floris

[Faithfully expressing the terroir, with finesse and freshness that resonates on the dinner table]

Le Comte des Floris is a small domaine founded in 2000, with approximately 7 hectares of vineyards. Located in the Coteaux du Languedoc region, it straddles the communes of Pézenas, Caux, and Gabian. The domaine is located in the heart of the village of Pézenas, in the heart of the appellation, where the winemaking takes place. Since 2017, the domaine has practiced organic farming certified by Ecocert and biodynamic farming certified by Demeter.

All vineyards are managed without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The grapes are hand-picked into small 12kg cases, with sorting if necessary. Pressing is done manually using vertical presses, and the winemaking is as natural as possible. The use of sulfites is kept to a minimum, and wild yeasts are used for fermentation. The wine is aged for at least one year in oak barrels, followed by further aging in tank for a more balanced finish.

By minimizing intervention in the vineyard and cellar, we aim to express the terroir's characteristics as faithfully as possible, which is why the red wines are dominated by varieties that best express the terroir of a particular soil: Grenache on Villafrancien, Syrah on Carboniferous Schist, Carignan on basalt.

For white wines, the focus is on Carignan Blanc, a little-known variety that is perfectly suited to the climate. This variety has natural acidity and produces wines that are not cloyingly sweet even with age.

Through the expression of diverse and fragmented terroirs, they emphasize finesse and freshness over concentration and power, and their philosophy is that wine is made to be enjoyed at the table.
