Balestri Valda is a family estate founded by Guido Rizzotto and now watched over with great care by his daughter, Laura.
Rooted in the volcanic soils of Soave, they grow indigenous varieties such as Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave, making wines that draw out the character of the land itself.
A commitment to organic farming and a profound respect for biodiversity underpin everything they do - they keep bees as well.
Basalt soils give the wines richness of flavour and balance, while limestone supplies the minerals the vines need to grow.
Out of respect for nature, no chemical treatments of any kind are used: grapes and olives alike are grown sustainably.
The whole family is closely involved in the winemaking, and Milena - Guido's wife and Laura's mother - is the steady presence that keeps them all in harmony.
Vines have been cultivated on this land for centuries.
Today the vineyards spread across south-facing hills, making the most of the mild climate. Yields are held down, and every bottle reflects the quality their finest craft can achieve.
