Production

Cultivation
The vineyards surrounding Baran's winery, in S. Ambrogio di Trebaseleghe, are located in an area traditionally known as "Glion".

The soil is clayey and contains a thick layer of Paleolithic deposits from the Pleistocene era (called "currant"), resulting in a very dense clay soil.

This type of soil is especially prevalent in the Venetian lakeside area and
It is commonly found in the deposits of the alluvial plains of the Veneto-Friuli region.

Yields are kept low, less than 2kg per vine, due to the characteristics of the vines and a deliberate production policy that focuses on quality.

About the Winery

Balan

Balan

The Balan company was founded in 1962 by a very young Sergio Balan, who thus put to good use the knowledge gained working with his father Giuseppe and his grandfather Jeremiah: both had various agricultural activities, but were known above all as, we would say today, specialized courtiers in the wine sector. During the First World War, Giuseppe, who left for the front, could not take care of the family business. At that time his wife Rosa Stella played a decisive role in the stability of work and the maintenance of relationships built by her husband.
