The 2018 vintage began with mild winter temperatures and abundant rainfall, followed by a mild spring and a very hot and dry summer. Budbreak was uniform, with localized crop losses due to disease outbreaks. Flowering occurred evenly at the end of May, with health care required through the end of July. Continued high temperatures and water limitations accelerated fruit ripening. Like the great 2005, 2018 saw early ripening, ideal for abundant anthocyanins and early tannin maturation.

Tasting Comments

Tasting Notes
Deep garnet color. The nose is refined and delicate, offering notes of fresh fruit, small black fruits, and spice. The palate is smooth and appetizing, with firm tannic power. The body is silky smooth and composed of elegant tannins. The structure supports the flavor, allowing it to evolve over time. The finish is delicious, full-bodied, fleshy, and harmonious. Very rich and distinctive in style, this wine is built for long-term aging, yet retains elegance and dignity even in its youth.
