“True” Sancerre Born from Biodynamics and a Low-Intervention Philosophy
Spread across the hills of Sancerre, Domaine Pierre Morin is a family-run estate where tradition meets innovation. Based in the village of Bué, the domaine benefits from a rich diversity of terroirs shaped by limestone and clay soils. From 10 hectares of vineyards—7 of which are planted with Sauvignon Blanc and the rest with Pinot Noir—the estate produces high-quality wines.
Following the passing of Pierre (the father) in 1976, his son Gérard dedicated himself to expanding and developing the domaine. In 2004, Pierre Morin, the current owner and winemaker, joined the estate after gaining experience at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy and in Adelaide Hills, Australia. His arrival marked a turning point: the estate embraced sustainable viticulture with the elimination of herbicides and the adoption of biodynamic farming practices. In 2018, Domaine Pierre Morin was officially certified organic.
Today, Pierre works alongside Anne-Sophie with deep respect for the soil and the surrounding ecosystem. In the vineyard, they use the Guyot-Poussard pruning method to preserve the sap flow and promote vine health. All harvesting is done by hand, with meticulous care given to selecting the finest fruit, especially from old vines.
In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts is favored. Fermentation and aging take place in a combination of stainless steel tanks, oak barrels, and amphorae, depending on the desired expression. Guided by a low-intervention philosophy, the winemaking process allows the terroir to fully shine through in each wine.
Beyond Sancerre, the domaine has also started a new chapter in the Coteaux du Giennois as of 2024, focusing on crafting future-oriented white wines thanks to the limestone-rich soils and high-quality massal selections.
Balancing delicacy and strength, purity and depth, Pierre Morin’s wines reflect a beautiful dialogue between nature and human touch—an authentic expression of what “true Sancerre” can be.
