[A unique wine that reflects the Jura terroir]
Noir Frères dates back to 1973 when Jean Noir, a dairy farmer in Poligny, planted his first vines.
The estate gradually expanded until 2003, when his sons Philippe and Jean-Yves changed course, ending their partnership with the Poligny Cooperative (Caveau des Jacobins) and starting to produce and sell their own wine.
Believing that the quality of their wine is directly linked to the terroir, the selection of plots for planting has always been an important criterion. Plots facing south or southwest maximize the sunshine on the hillside throughout the year. These favorable conditions allow the grapes to develop their unique characteristics. The soils of each plot are made up of blue, grey and white marl, ideal for white wines such as Savagnin and Chardonnay, while the plots where Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau are grown are made up of red clay.
From these lands, we create various blends that express the entire Jura terroir. Each year, the wines we produce are unique, depending on the climatic conditions and the growing conditions of the grapes. We currently own 11 hectares of vineyards in and around Poligny, in order to extract all the flavors from the terroir.
