[Expanding the possibilities of Muscadet: 400 years of tradition and innovation]
Domaine Luneau-Papin is located south of the Loire River, 20 kilometers from Nantes, and is a prestigious domaine with a history dating back to the 17th century.
The previous owner, Pierre Renaud, is one of the producers who has long advocated the potential of Muscadet aging. From fresh and refreshing Muscadet to long-term aging varieties that are finally ready to drink after aging, he has been making wines that maximize the potential of each terroir. Currently, under the leadership of Pierre-Marie Renaud, the ninth generation, the company is focusing on expressing the differences in terroir more clearly.
They currently own vineyards in four villages and have been farming organically since 2013. They have also introduced organic farming methods to some of their vineyards. For vinification, they use the region's traditional underground tanks. After fermentation, they age the wine on the lees, using the sur lie method, which gives the wine freshness and a rich body. This allows only grapes with exceptional minerality and rich acidity to age for a long time.
Papin wines are listed on the menus of renowned restaurants in the Loire region and Paris.
