Tasting note

Color: Bright ruby red. Scents of currant and blueberry jam. The scent of juniper has an elegant nuance of sweet spice and pepper. Taste Very refreshing and persistent. The tannins are fine, with hints of chocolate and coffee on the finish.

Winemaking & technical data

Selected grains are subjected to low-temperature infiltration for 48 hours. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks and maceration with the skins for 10 to 15 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels, followed by maturation in wooden barrels for 18 to 22 months before batonnage. Finally, it is aged in bottle for a minimum of 18 months.

About this bottle

This Cabernet Franc is named after the Latin word MAGNITUDO, which refers not only to size, power, and importance, but also to a noble heart, as suggested by the medieval philosopher Raimundus Lull's "Great Art." This grape, which reaches optimal maturity, is cultivated in a specific clay plot on the border of the vineyard facing the sea. Different clones and rootstocks are planted depending on the soil and topography of the hillside vineyard, and the vineyard is tirelessly tended by hand. These are the reasons for the strength conveyed by the Ars Magna series labels.

Because these are beverages, we are generally unable to accept returns or exchanges for reasons of personal preference. Please order with care.

Even with chilled delivery, a rapid change in temperature can cause slight seepage. This does not affect the quality of the wine, and we are unable to offer an exchange or refund in such cases. Every bottle is visually checked before packing.

Where the fault is ours, returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery.

Return postage

Where the fault is ours — a faulty bottle or the wrong item — we cover the cost of return. Returns and exchanges for reasons of personal preference are not accepted.

About the producer

Omina Romana

[Wine inspired by history from approximately 2,500 years ago]

Omina Romana is a family-run winery founded in 2007 on the initiative of the Berner family. The Velletri region, about 40 km south of Rome and surrounded by the green volcanic hills of the Castelli Romani overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, was chosen as the location for their new project: to create a new winery that would express the highest quality in its products through knowledge, science, consistency and passion.

Omina Romana is situated in a position that allows it to fully exploit the characteristics of its terroir: the winds from the sea a few kilometres away, the mountains behind the Alban Hills and the caldera to the west of the volcano, create an excellent environment in which the temperature difference and volcanic soil allow the cultivars to reach their full potential.

More than 2,500 years ago, the Etruscans, who settled in what is now Lazio alongside the ancient Latin peoples, planted vines. For them, wine was the noblest embodiment of the power of nature.

But despite their winemaking, the ageing process was a divine secret. For the ancients, the success of a vintage depended on the gods' "good omens" (ômina in Latin), so a warm, stable summer was considered a divine sign of a good harvest.
