Deep dark ruby color.
When poured into the glass, the powerful aroma of ripe black cherry, plum and cassis emerges, followed by layers of vanilla, cocoa, spice and the minerality characteristic of Tinta de Toro.

On the palate, the rich fruitiness and smooth tannins spread, while the fresh acidity tightens the overall flavor.

Nuances of chocolate and licorice present in the mid-palate add complexity, leaving a pleasant warmth and smoky aroma in the aftertaste.

Even now, the harmony of fruit power and softness is appealing, but with a few years of aging, this is a wine that can be expected to develop even greater depth and roundness.

Technical Data

Cultivation

El Primer Paso is made from a mix of ungrafted and grafted vines, 60% of which are between 15 and 40 years old, and 40% of which are over 45 years old, from one of Toro's oldest and most prestigious plots, "La Jara," and the Tinta de Toro, a small plot in the highlands of Valdefinjas.

Maximum yields are 4,500-5,000 kg per hectare, although lower yields are also used for this wine. Fermented in concrete tanks, the wine is aged for 6-8 months in French and American oak barrels.
