Owning & Enjoying

Tasting notes
The aroma evokes a sense of earth and fruit, with a lingering hint of cocoa powder at the end. On the palate, flavors of fruit and chocolate unfold, forming a rich taste with nuances of black pepper and tannins. According to the producer, it feels more like Napa than Bordeaux.

Pairing
Quiche with blue cheese and bacon, pasta like beef ragù or carbonara, and charcuterie platters

Production

The planting density is 3,500 vines per hectare. Harvesting is carried out by machine, with a yield of approximately 40 hL/ha, nearly matching the maximum yield of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (40 hL/ha). The grapes are gently crushed upon arrival at the cellar, followed by cold maceration with the skins.

About the Winery

Château Couronneau

Château Couronneau

Château Cronneau is a very historic château that survived the '100 Years War', a battle between England and France that took place in the 5th century. With a history dating back to 1620, the chateau is surrounded by a moat and has eight towers. Christophe Pia, who pays meticulous attention to every step of the process, from vineyard care to bottling, shares information with the young owners in the same area and is keen to improve. He is also a voice for the new trend towards château identity and always aims to make wines that are appealing. He is a 'Striving for the Future' winemaker who takes advantage of the favourable natural conditions and leaves the environment to his children through organic farming. Christophe Pia was crowned 'Wine Grower of the Year' by Cuisine et Vin, the number one award amongst Bordeaux producers, and his wines were named 'Everyday Drinker of the Year' by the Revue du Vin de France. The wine has also received rave reviews from Revue du Vin de France magazine, which called it "a wine you could drink every day and never get tired of".
