This Carignan wine was planted in 1903, the year the history of Roc des Anges began. The soil is schist. Fermented with wild yeast in concrete vats, it is then aged for nine months in wooden barrels. This silky and dense cuvée is very round and ripe, with firm tannins and a hint of freshness. It has a moderate minerality, is youthful, and has great ageing potential.

Tasting Comments

Tasting Notes
This wine is made from Carignan trees planted in 1903 in a patch of land along the hill called ``La Travaselle'' in Catalan. Made from crystalline schist soil containing iron and silica (silicon dioxide), this cuvée was a model of sublime and elegant Carignan in an era of low production. Very round and ripe, with firm tannins, just the right amount of minerality, and a hint of freshness.

Pairing
Hare blood and red wine sauce, duck blood sauce, game (birds)
