La Bastide Saint Dominique is located in the southern Rhône, midway between Avignon and Orange. The estate was established around a 16th-century chapel and was founded in 1976 by Gérard and Marie-Claude Bonnet. In 1999, their son, Éric Bonnet, took over the management from his parents, bringing both vitality and modernity while preserving the family tradition.
Originally a small estate, it has grown over the years and now spans an impressive 50 hectares. The vineyards extend across the appellations of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Cairanne, and Rasteau.
The vineyards benefit from a diverse range of soils, including safre (a type of sandy soil) atop limestone, red clay, and the iconic rolled pebbles characteristic of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. As a result, the old vines each express unique characteristics, producing a variety of wines.
Traditional grape varieties thrive here, with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault cultivated for red wines, while Clairette and Roussanne are grown for whites. The estate maintains traditional winemaking methods while modernizing its facilities to ensure the highest quality wines.
During harvest, grapes are carefully selected first in the vineyard and then a second time in the cellar. The entire production process—from vineyard management to winemaking, bottling, and sales—is handled in-house, ensuring the preservation of both regional character and individuality.
