[Chinon, born from a passion for nature, exudes elegance]
Clos La Niverdière was founded in 2015 by Belgian-born Martine Budét in Beaumont-en-Véron, in the heart of the Loire.
La Niverdière has 7.5 hectares of different terroirs in the AOP Chinon, 4.5 hectares in the commune of Cravant-les-Coteaux in Chinon and 3 hectares in Clos La Niverdière in Beaumont-en-Véron.
He learned about vineyard and yield management from his neighbor, Philippe Allier, known as the “Tamer of Cabernet Franc” and one of the top Chinon winemakers featured in La Revue du Vin de France.
Martine has meticulously implemented organic farming (currently in the process of conversion) to protect the vineyards from poor harvests and powdery mildew. All fermentations are carried out slowly in conical concrete tanks using only wild yeasts.
We believe that by respecting the terroir and maintaining balance, and by cherishing the ecosystem, we can sustain a wonderful vineyard. We prepare the soil and cultivate the vineyard, taking advantage of the characteristics of the terroir and the weather conditions of the year. The harvest is done by hand, by plot, according to the degree of ripeness of the fruit. The fruit is sorted in the vineyard and then in the cellar before vinification.
Daily monitoring ensures that the wines she produces have a structure with beautifully blended tannins. The wines she produces are the epitome of elegance, with aromas of ripe red fruits and a stunning ruby color that is visually stunning.
