Château de la Font du Loup
Château de la Font du Loup
【Born beside a legendary spring — the essence of Châteauneuf-du-Pape】
Château de la Font du Loup stands amid lush greenery at the very heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
The house was built right beside the spring from which it takes its name.
Legend has it that the wolves of Mont Ventoux would come down to the plain to drink there.
Hence the name la Font du Loup — the wolf's spring.
A remarkable terroir formed 5.3 million years ago, a north-facing site that is the very picture of freshness, and vineyard work carried out with close respect for nature all come together to produce gastronomic wines of unfailing finesse.
Out of concern for the environment and a wish to make the healthiest wines possible, the estate holds HVE (High Environmental Value) level 3 certification. Taking that commitment further, it has been farming organically since the spring of 2021.
Vinification takes place in barrel or in tank, plot by plot and with great care.
That attention to detail is what preserves the character of both terroir and grape variety.
The reds are aged for a minimum of eighteen months and the whites for at least six, drawing everything the fruit has to give.
