[A proud Tenerife drink, woven from family passion and tradition]
Lorenzo Hernández was born in La Victoria in 1952. From an early age he worked in the vineyards with his mother. In 1984 he decided to produce his own wine, without knowing exactly what the results or goals would be.
He began cultivating old vines in the Las Riqueras area of El Sauzal and decided to switch from bush cultivation to trellis cultivation. Two years later, Finca El Loro began harvesting. Today, the finca houses the winery and, at 3.5 hectares, is the winery's largest vineyard. The company has also changed its cultivation system, but the old vines have always been preserved.
Lorenzo introduced grafted varieties such as the highly aromatic Malvasia, Moscatel and Castellana, but maintained a foundation of old vines such as Listan Negro, Negramor and Listan Blanco.
In 2013, the company decided to improve the quality of its wines and joined the DO Tacoronte Acentejo, adhering to strict quality standards, and the "LoHer" trademark was born.
He currently works alongside his daughter, Fátima Hernández, who is a viticultural technician.
The LoHer project is based on mechanizing traditional family techniques while retaining their artisanal essence to produce wines that reflect the grape variety and the land from which they come.
