Collection: Bodega Loher

Spain - Canaria

Lorenzo Hernández was born in La Victoria in 1952. Since his childhood he worked with his mother in the vineyards. In 1984, he decided to produce wine himself, without knowing exactly where it would end and what purpose it would serve.

He began working on old vines in the Las Riquelas area, in the municipality of El Sauzal, and decided at that time to change the cultivation system from low vines to trellis. Two years later, Finca El Loro began to generate income. Today the winery is located on this finca and, at 3.5 hectares, it is the bodega's largest wine-growing field. The cultivation system also changes in this company, although the old vines are always retained.

Lorenzo introduced grafting varieties such as the aromatic Malvasía, Moscatel and Castellana, but retained the old vines of Listán Negro, Negramoll and Listán Blanco as the basis of his operations.

In 2013 he decided to improve the quality of his wines. He joined the DO Tacoronte Acentejo and subjected himself to strict quality standards. The LoHer trademark was born.

He currently works with his daughter Fátima Hernández (viticulture technician).

The LoHer project is based on the mechanization of a family tradition without losing the essence of the craft, producing wines that represent the grape variety and the territory in which they were born.
