Château Loirac
Château Loirac
The history of Château Loirac dates back to the arrival of the Dutch in the Bordeaux region, who came to develop the wine trade and export. Built close to the Gironde estuary and the sea, Château Loirac is a Médoc appellation contrôlée wine estate in the commune of Jau Dignac and Loirac. Left to its own devices after the Second World War, Château Loirac was taken over in 1987 by a group of friends with a passion for wine and viticulture. That same year, the first plots of vines were planted. Since then, the founders have worked hard to improve and equip the production site, making Château Loirac a friendly place where great wines can be made. The estate has expanded over the years with the acquisition of new plots. Today, average annual production is 80,000 bottles. All the buildings, from the winery to the dovecote, have been renovated by local craftsmen in keeping with the architecture of the Médoc, and in 2015 the forge adjoining the dovecote was converted into a charming gîte.
