This stunning wine combines the power of old-vine Cinsault grapes bathed in the Mediterranean sun with the meticulous winemaking techniques that Domaine d'Anjou Banesi is known for. The concentrated flavor of ripe black fruit is complemented by layers of spices, dried herbs, and mineral notes, resulting in a magnificent finish. After aging, the tannins blend into a silky texture, evolving into a deep, elegant flavor. True to its name, which means "volcanic spark," this unique red wine is filled with quiet power and passion.

Tasting notes
Deep ruby red colour.

The aroma that rises from the glass is multi-layered, with notes of fruits such as black cherries and plums, layered with dried herbs, licorice, smoky minerals, and a hint of black pepper.

In the mouth, the fine tannins and supple acidity create a beautiful balance, with a calm, mature feel coexisting with a clear fruitiness.

The finish is long-lasting, with minerals reminiscent of iron from the black stone and schist soil, resulting in an elegant finish with quiet power.

About the Winery

Domaine Danjou Banessy

Domaine Danjou Banessy

Located at Espira, a few kilometres away from Rivesaltes, Domaine Danjou-Banessy is an old family estate that was producing only fortified and dry rancio wines until Benoit took over from his father 10 years ago. His brother, Sebastien, an English teacher, joined the domaine full time 5 years ago. They are now producing dry whites and reds from very old vines of local grapes such as their rare and original carignan gris. Their soil has always been free from any chemicals; their father and grandfather were bio before anyone else.  They are as non-interventionist as possible in the cellar. Benoit and Sebastien are Catalans but friends with many neo-vignerons that came from all over the world to Roussillon to produce great wines. Tradition and open-mindedness could explain the quality of their wines.
