[Rhone White Rising Star]
Born and raised in the Rhône region, Julien Pilon earned his BTS (Professional Technical Diploma) in viticulture and oenology, putting his knowledge into practice under the tutelage of Yves Cuilleron, before spending over ten years studying winemaking at renowned wineries such as Mas Amiel in Roussillon, Terra Remonta in the Empordà region of Catalonia, and Jean-Pierre Villa in the Rhône.
80% of Julien's wines are white. He strives daily to create a white wine that is both rich and fresh. He wants to create a wine that is well-balanced and clear, and is currently producing wines of true flair and elegance in the Rhône region.
The wines produced are elegant and stylish, emphasizing delicacy over power, and although the vintage is still young, Julien's white wines are already ranked among the best in the Rhône region.
He began winemaking in 2010 and describes himself as a "landless winemaker," starting out as a négociant, carefully selecting the grapes needed for his wines. He began with a 1.5ha vineyard and has now grown into a domaine of approximately 5ha, consisting of both his own and rented land. In 2020, a new facility began operation and a team was formed, leading to further development.
The grapes are hand-picked and the farming is organic, demonstrating the essentiality of the terroir concept. The winemaking and aging processes are also kept as minimally invasive as possible, in order to preserve the individuality of each wine.
