[Beaujolais tradition and innovation, handed down through four generations, weaving together the terroir]
Since 1900, the Burgaud family has been cultivating grapes and producing high quality wines.
Alexandre Burgaud is a fourth-generation winemaker who continues his family's traditional techniques while adding his own personal touch through terroir-driven winemaking.
Alexandre took over the vineyards of his family's Domaine in 2013. After obtaining his BTS (Professional Technical Diploma) in Viticulture and Oenology and gaining experience at other Domaines, he returned to the family estate and has gradually expanded the Domaine.
Proud of working on ancestral land, the winery aims to modernize its viticultural techniques and produce quality wines.
The wine is made solely from the single grape variety that is the symbol of the Beaujolais region: Gamay Noir à Joue Blanc.
The terroir is unique, with a variety of soil types including granite, sand, stony and clay-limestone soils. The grapes are harvested with careful attention to each and every bunch, resulting in low yields, and are carefully hand-picked at the perfect time to ensure the best flavor.
Old vines are planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare, resulting in very low yields per vine but outstanding quality. To meet the challenges of sustainable agriculture, new plantings have been adjusted to 8,000 vines per hectare.
