[Tradition and innovation interwoven, Languedoc passion and pure drink]
Founded in 1870, the estate is located 40km north of Montpellier in the Languedoc region. The soil is dry and stony, consisting of limestone or calcareous clay. The climate is perfect for winemaking, with warm days and cool nights, making it ideal for growing high-quality grapes.
Instead of selling grapes to the local agricultural cooperative, which had been the family farm since the war, Gilles Palatin enlisted the help of his two nephews, Patrick and Thierry, just before the turn of the millennium to make his own wine.
Every year, Gilles continues to improve the quality of his wines. Although some of his vineyards are classified as AOP, he has chosen IGP to allow for greater freedom in his winemaking.
His winemaking philosophy has always emphasized teamwork and caring for each team member.
He also knows how to use new oak barrels, which other producers in the south of France do not, and how to make wines that can be aged for a long time. His wines are all very aromatic and unique, with a freshness that is perfect for gastronomy and are very well-balanced.
Adhering to a minimalist approach, all wines are aged in oak barrels, usually one-third of which are new, resulting in cuvées with exceptional clarity and purity that are delicious to drink immediately, while others can be aged for several years.
