Jean-Philippe Trousset produces high-quality Champagne of remarkable elegance, rooted in a long family tradition. His is a small, family-run estate managing just 7.6 hectares of vineyards—deliberately limited in scale to remain within arm’s reach. This allows for close, sustainable vineyard management and a strong commitment to preserving biodiversity.

The family’s winemaking history dates back to 1697, when the Guillaumart family began producing wine in the village of Sacy. Generations later, in 1956, France Guillaumart married Jacky Trousset, and together they established the brand Trousset-Guillaumart. In 1960, using the cooperative model, they released their first 2,000 bottles of Champagne.

Jean-Philippe Trousset, the current head of the estate, studied Champagne winemaking before taking over in 1992. In 2008, he became an independent grower-producer and built a fully equipped winery, including a pressing facility, fermentation tanks, cellars, and production rooms.

His philosophy centers on working in harmony with the environment and maintaining the vitality of the soil. The estate’s vineyards span three communes in the Petite Montagne de Reims, all classified as Premier Cru. By keeping operations small, Jean-Philippe can dedicate himself fully to each part of the winemaking process—from cultivation to vinification to bottling—personally overseeing every step with care.

For over 20 years, he has deepened his expertise in soil cultivation with the goal of protecting each vineyard parcel’s microbial life. This respectful, terroir-driven approach forms the foundation of his commitment to sustainable viticulture and biodiversity. In recognition of these efforts, the estate received HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification in 2017.
