Domaine de la Pousse d'Or, a prestigious Volnay estate with a history dating back to the 15th century, has been practicing organic viticulture since Patrick Landanger acquired it in 1997. Biodynamic farming was introduced in 2012, and Demeter certification was obtained in 2018. Clos des Soixante Ouvrées is a monopole vineyard located within the Caillerets plot, with nearly half of its vines planted in the 1950s. This offering is in magnum (1500ml), a bottle size that allows for slower, more graceful aging, making it a valuable wine for long-term cellaring.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a deep ruby color. The glass reveals aromas of black cherry, cassis, licorice, spices, and mineral nuances. On the palate, a rich and deep fruitiness unfolds, characterized by fine-grained, gentle tannins and a silky texture. The concentration derived from old vines planted nearly half a century ago, along with the minerality from the unique calcareous and marl soils of this monopole vineyard, extends through the finish. Thanks to the slower aging curve of the magnum bottle, this wine possesses the potential for long enjoyment well into the 2030s and beyond.
