Monday, October 5th: Bastide Saint-Dominique Winemaker's Dinner at Kyoto Café Bistro Au Bon Morceau
On Monday, October 5th, at Kyoto Cafe Bistro Au Bon Morceau, we will host a winemaker's dinner with Ms. Véronique Bonnet, owner of La Bastide Saint Dominique from the Rhône region of France.
For the event, she has specially sent us the domain's flagship cuvée, "Secrets de Pignan," and the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Secrets de Pignan 2020 (750ml), a wine of elegance and depth born from 100% old-vine Grenache planted in 1920 on just 1.25-1.5 hectares of sandy soil, along with a magnum bottle of the 2022 vintage, which is not yet available in Japan.
The 2020 vintage received Decanter 96, Wine Advocate 95, and Jeb Dunnuck 95–97.
The 2022 vintage received Jeb Dunnuck 97, Decanter 95, and Vinous 94. You can also enjoy a comparative tasting of these top cuvées, which consistently receive high ratings every year.
With its purity and precision, red fruits, flowers, licorice, spices, fresh acidity, and fine tannins, this wine differs slightly from the "rich and alcoholic Châteauneuf" image, expressing complex aromas, transparency, elegance, and a long finish. We invite you to join us for this exciting comparative tasting.
Chef Masaki Kubo:
Since opening in 2001, he has long pursued traditional French regional cuisine, particularly Lyonnaise dishes and charcuterie. In 2013, he became the first Japanese person to acquire Andouillette 5A certification, and is the only certified person other than a Frenchman.
