The prestigious Jacquesson, which captivated even Napoleon, crafts this single-vineyard Blanc de Blancs only in exceptional vintages. The stage is "Champ Cain," a mere 1.3-hectare plot in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Côte des Blancs, situated on the lower, south-facing slopes. Chardonnay vines planted in 1962 take root in chalky, gravelly soil. Extended lees aging refines an exceptionally precise flavor. Aromas of dry pear, chamomile, dried flowers, and light hazelnut emerge, and with time, the wine reveals the mineral and rigorous character typical of Avize. This focused wine is non-dosé, which highlights its clear definition and the concentrated tension of its bubbles.
