From Rully's acclaimed Domaine Dureuil-Janthial comes the single-vineyard "En Gênes." This plot, adjacent to the Premier Cru "Meix Cadot," features a mix of vines planted at different times, in 1950 and 1978. Winemaker Vincent Dureuil practices meticulous organic viticulture, guided by the lunar calendar. He employs a unique style, using half of the grapes as whole clusters, extracting a potential that surpasses Rully's village appellation.
Tasting Notes
The color is a deep garnet. The aroma is a complex intermingling of dark berries, spices, and a subtle stem nuance derived from the whole clusters. On the palate, a firm structure and silky tannins are harmoniously balanced, with a hint of roasted notes from the oak adding richness to the fruit. The finish is powerful and long, hinting at a depth approaching that of a Premier Cru, despite being a village wine. This wine will gain further charm with a few more years of aging.
