Chapelle-Chambertin, a Grand Cru vineyard spanning just over 5 hectares, is adjacent to the Chambertin hills. Among the same hills, it is reputed to have a shallower and lighter topsoil, producing the most elegant and feminine style among the Chambertin Grand Crus. The 2015 vintage from the prestigious Trapet family, established in 1919 and transitioning to biodynamic farming in the 1990s, benefited from a "full and outstanding year" of dry weather and abundant sunshine, resulting in a wine that combines concentration with elegance.
Tasting Notes
The appearance is a dark, brilliant garnet. The aroma is complex, with ripe black cherry and blueberry fruit notes layered with violet flowers, undergrowth, and humus. On the palate, it is medium-bodied but dense, with fine tannins that create a sharp outline, and flavors of cacao and spice emerging from the mid-palate. The finish is long, with a lingering minerality reminiscent of the terroir's soil. It is currently enjoyable but also has the potential to age well until the mid-2030s.
