Thierry Allemand is the solitary grower who made the name of Cornas in the northern Rhône known worldwide, tending just about 5 ha of vines by hand, plot by plot. Production is tiny, and his wines are fiercely sought after by enthusiasts around the world. Vinification uses whole clusters with stems retained and manual pigeage. Each plot is aged separately in large casks and barrels for around 24 months before blending. “Reynard” is the flagship cuvée, made from the domaine’s oldest vines, some over 100 years old. 2016 brought a milder climate than 2015 and is regarded as a classic vintage with fresh acidity, pure fruit and fine structure.

Tasting Notes

Deep, brilliant ruby. Black cherry and blueberry fruit with violet, peony, black pepper, juniper and wet stone. Supple on the palate, with lively acidity and fine tannins supporting the fruit, and herbal nuances from the whole clusters adding dimension. An elegant style of Reynard, with a poised tension that lasts long.

Drinking Window

Expected to age until around 2038. While young, we recommend opening 2 hours before serving, or decanting.
