Esprit Leflaive is a project launched in 2018 by the prestigious Domaine Leflaive, which goes beyond its home base of Puligny-Montrachet to select and produce wines from excellent parcels throughout Burgundy, including the Mâconnais. Clos Reyssier is a 0.12-hectare single vineyard located on the east-facing lower slopes of the village of Chaintré, characterized by old vines planted in 1950. The clay-limestone soil, with a higher proportion of clay, produces fruit with both concentration and structure. This vineyard was promoted to Premier Cru status from the 2020 vintage, and this wine is from the year prior to its promotion.
Tasting Notes
The appearance is brilliant pale gold. The aroma offers white flowers and pear, mingled with a mineral scent reminiscent of limestone, accented by subtle oak. On the palate, the concentration characteristic of old vines harmonizes with vibrant acidity, followed by a smooth texture. The finish is long and mineral-laden. While aromatic in its youth, it is expected to develop further complexity with age.
