Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 1999 Domaine Barthod

Domaine Bart, a prestigious name in Marsannay. With a legacy based on inheritance from the esteemed Clair-Daÿu family, the family has been rooted in Burgundy for six generations. They own a large plot of approximately 1.03 hectares in the Grand Cru "Bonnes-Mares," some of which were planted in 1922. Their winemaking adheres to traditional methods, including cultivation based on organic farming principles, hand-picking, and 12 months of barrel aging with up to 25% new oak. 1999 is renowned as a great vintage with excellent aging potential.

Tasting Notes

Having aged for over a quarter century, the wine presents a garnet color with an orange hue at the rim. The aroma is a complex tapestry of mature notes, including leather, forest floor, black tea, and dried flowers, alongside nuances of undergrowth. On the palate, the tannins are rounded and integrated, revealing a smooth texture beneath which lies a concentrated core of fruit. The finish is long, exuding a refined elegance. This wine is truly at its peak drinking window.
