In 1880, brothers James and William Rennie left their home in Scotland and set sail for California with big dreams of Napa Valley.
Five years later, they built a stone winery in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains and planted 60 acres of vineyards.
Today, this historic property is owned by the Katyaru family.
Founding Brothers is a wine of depth and concentration, perfectly expressing the unique character of the region known as "Rutherford Dust."
This wine is made entirely from grapes grown in our own vineyards, fully expressing the unique character of this unique terroir.

Founding Brothers is a wine that powerfully embodies the Rutherford terroir.
The expressive aroma is full of black fruit and licorice, with dark cocoa flavours and delicate yet firm tannins that linger long on the palate.
This is a powerful and sincere wine that will continue to exude its charm for many years to come.

brewing
The grapes are gently destemmed and only the best berries are selected using an optical sorting machine.
Gravity transfers the wine to the fermentation tank, where it undergoes a cold soak for up to 5 days.
Fermentation temperature is controlled below 28°C, with gentle pump-over and punch-down.
After approximately 30 days of tank fermentation, the wine is pressed and undergoes natural malolactic fermentation in new barrels.
Aging period: 16 to 18 months
New barrel ratio: 50% new French oak, 20% large foudres
