[An energetic expression of the original terroir of Maury]
Clos del Rey began almost 200 years ago on the family estate in the highlands of Maury. It is the story of how successive generations of the Montagnier family have enriched this terroir, known for its naturally sweet wines, but which also contains many other wine treasures.
Driven by a passion for grapes passed down from father to son and a desire to highlight indigenous varieties, the locals of Morley want to share the diverse palette of aromas with drinkers through wines that capture the energy of the land.
Located in the heart of a protected natural area, the Domaine's vineyards cover approximately 12 hectares and are situated at an altitude of 300 metres. Carignan and Grenache coexist elegantly, steeped in geological and natural diversity, resulting in wines that exemplify the richness of this terroir.
The Maury terroir is spread over hills of marl and black schist, a land adorned with vibrant colours from garrigues and vineyards, characterised by wind, sun and a unique geology that makes it a field of endless experimentation, giving rise to a wealth of unique characteristics.
To embrace this ancient land and tell its own story there, to tell the story of the vine's birth, its growth and its journey to the bottle. Clos del Rey wines are reflections of the soil, the work, the plants and the people who shaped them.
