砂利混じりの石灰質土壌で育つシラーを優しく抽出し、低温で発酵。果皮との接触を抑えることで、フレッシュな果実味をまっすぐに引き出しています。淡いガーネットの色合いから、モレロチェリーやブラックベリー、リコリスを思わせる熟した果実の香りが立ち上ります。口当たりは優美で、鼻先で感じた香りがそのまま口中に再現されます。少し冷やして、グリルした肉とともに。

Pale garnet in colour, it has a pleasant fruity nose with hints of ripe fruit such as morello cherry, blackberry and licorice, and a delicious and elegant mouthfeel that reproduces the aromas you sense in your nose.

Not only is it in the name, but you can smell it too! It's the perfect wine to enjoy with friends; it's enticing, light and full of fruit.
The palate is round and persistent, with a slightly spicy finish and refreshing acidity.
The problem is... it's so delicious that you end up drinking too much! Before you know it, it's empty!

brewing

Low temperature fermentation prior to fermentation, gentle extraction and light daily pump-overs during alcoholic fermentation.
The batting time is short, just six days, to preserve only the fruit flavor. The wine is bottled in January of the following year.

About this bottle

Grapes grown in limestone soil mixed with gravel are gently extracted and fermented at low temperatures. By limiting contact with the skins, a vivid ruby color and fresh fruit flavor are achieved. This red wine has a cherry and red berry aroma, a light mouthfeel and a pleasant moderate acidity, and is delicious even when chilled.

Because these are beverages, we are generally unable to accept returns or exchanges for reasons of personal preference. Please order with care.

Even with chilled delivery, a rapid change in temperature can cause slight seepage. This does not affect the quality of the wine, and we are unable to offer an exchange or refund in such cases. Every bottle is visually checked before packing.

Where the fault is ours, returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery.
We are unable to help after that period, so thank you for your understanding.

Return postage

Where the fault is ours — a faulty bottle or the wrong item — we cover the cost of return. Returns and exchanges for reasons of personal preference are not accepted.

If anything arrives faulty, we will replace it with a new bottle or an equivalent, subject to availability.

About the producer

La Croix Gratiot

A Rising Star of Innovative Picpoul

La Croix Gratiot’s 33 ha of vineyards lie on the clay-limestone hills that surround the Thau basin, where they benefit from sea breezes and the scents of the garrigue. This terroir is rich in colour: the reds and yellows of the clay-limestone soils, the green of the garrigue, the blue of the sky and of the Étang de Thau. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, the grapes reach optimal ripeness and can fully express the character of the area.

To maintain biodiversity in the vineyards, a wide variety of plants is grown at the edges of the plots and along the banks of the stream that runs through the property. Bat boxes are installed on the sunny faces and along the stream to encourage the activity of pipistrelle bats, which feed on midges.

Anaïs Ricome has emerged here as the rising star of Picpoul de Pinet. By putting the old Picpoul variety centre stage, she is producing great white wines in the Languedoc. After studying viticulture and oenology and gaining experience at a winery in New Zealand, she took over these vineyards near Marseillan from her father Yves.

Anaïs then reduced the size of the vineyard for better quality control and adopted organic farming incorporating biodynamics. She also works on plot selection in order to make the finest cuvées. Above all, through ageing in sandstone, foudres and stainless steel tanks, she expresses the elegance of the variety and gives it a distinctive touch.
