Tasting note

Bright ruby colour with a peony-like shine. The wine offers aromas of freshly harvested grapes, black tobacco and wild blackberries. When you put it in your mouth, the flavor spreads in harmony with the aroma, and you can feel the firm structure and silky mouthfeel. The finish has a pleasant bitterness and a slight sweetness, with a smooth, linen-like texture. It has a subtle yet profound appeal with flavors reminiscent of cinnamon and cranberry.

After sorting, the grapes are destemmed and then poured into tanks using gravity.
After a pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature, the wine is subjected to alcoholic fermentation with two weeks of skin maceration.
Malolactic fermentation is carried out 100%.
After aging for 10 months in stainless steel tanks, it will be filtered and bottled in May 2023.

About this bottle

The vines are 35 years old. Ruby red in color, transparent and vivid. Rich aroma of red fruits. Soft, smooth, supple and silky tannins. A fruity wine that can be enjoyed from a young age.

Because these are beverages, we are generally unable to accept returns or exchanges for reasons of personal preference. Please order with care.

Even with chilled delivery, a rapid change in temperature can cause slight seepage. This does not affect the quality of the wine, and we are unable to offer an exchange or refund in such cases. Every bottle is visually checked before packing.

Where the fault is ours, returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery.
We are unable to help after that period, so thank you for your understanding.

Return postage

Where the fault is ours — a faulty bottle or the wrong item — we cover the cost of return. Returns and exchanges for reasons of personal preference are not accepted.

If anything arrives faulty, we will replace it with a new bottle or an equivalent, subject to availability.

About the producer

Domaine de l'Évêché

[The essence of Burgundy's terroir, woven through generations of passion]

Domaine de l'Evêche, with a winemaking tradition dating back to the 17th century, is rooted in Saint-Denis-de-Vaux. Robert Jussier acquired the vineyard in 1930 and began selling barrels. In 1959, Henri Jussier bottled the first wine, expanding the business into a full-fledged domaine. Vincent Jussier acquired the property in 1985 and has continued to expand the business with his father, Henri.

The land, which had been a vineyard since the Middle Ages, was converted by orchardist Jean Baudot into an apple and pear orchard, which was a successor to the orchard, but due to the lack of a successor, it was passed on to a young grower who revived it as a vineyard. Five hectares of carefully selected Pinot Noir were planted, and at the same time, plots of Chardonnay and Aligoté, which are suited to the stony soil of Louvier, were also renovated.

In 1990, they acquired Les Ormeaux from Mercurey, and in 1998, Les Murgers, expanding the diversity of their terroir. In 2018, the next generation of winemakers, Quentin, joined the company and the winery was renovated, laying the foundation for further quality improvement.

Currently, Domaine de l'Evêche manages 14 hectares of vineyards, and is pursuing quality improvement through investment in new equipment, meticulous care in the vineyards, and controlled aging in the cellar. They carefully explain their work and winemaking philosophy to visitors, and offer wines that embody their history, passion, and challenges for the future.
