Carignan, planted in 1913. Pure schist soil. This cuvée is carved into the rock, and its aromas offer the sensation of diving into the mineral-rich soil. Reflecting the transparency of the schist soil, it has a sharp, refined vertical impression. A magnificent red wine, emblematic of the terroir, with a mineral-rich core. Extremely elegant, with a long, lingering finish.

Owning & Enjoying

Tasting notes
Its deep ruby red appearance is characteristic of the wine. Its clear color exudes elegance while retaining the concentrated flavor of old Grenache Noir vines. The elegant aromas that emerge from the glass are layered with ripe black cherry and plum compote, dried herbs, wild garrigue, black pepper, bay leaf, cinnamon, and licorice. The mineral-rich graphite-like aroma adds depth, a characteristic of the schist soil.

The mouth is impressive for its intricate texture and precise balance. Fresh acidity supports the structure, and the energetic fruit and supple tannins are in perfect harmony. The alcohol is modest, and the style is delicate and does not rely on extraction. The finish is very long, with flavors of black fruits, spices, and minerals that quietly linger.

This bottle clearly expresses Roc des Anges' philosophy of pursuing refinement and purity, and while it has the potential to age well, it is also very drinkable at the moment.
