Tasting note

A beautiful straw yellow colour with golden highlights, it has a very clear and brilliant appearance. It has a very expressive nose, with aromas of ripe white fruits such as white peach and apricot, which change to nuances of dried fruit and almond when exposed to air. When you put it in your mouth, it has a soft, expansive flavor with a supple attack. The flavors of ripe peach and apricot stand out, and a subtle minerality tightens the overall flavor.

Winemaking & technical data

The vineyards of Bessey and Chavanay, located on the Verlieu plain.

brewing

All grapes are hand-picked and sorted directly in the vineyard.
After cold pressing and racking, the wine is fermented with wild yeasts at a low temperature of about 15°C.
Alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation then take place in the barrel, and the wine is then aged in barrels for eight months without batonnage (stirring of the lees).

About this bottle

The grapes grown in the rich soil, which is a mixture of limestone and sand, are carefully hand-picked and fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine has a gorgeous aroma of apricots and white peaches, a full-bodied fruitiness and a smooth texture. The moderate acidity and minerality tighten the flavor.

Because these are beverages, we are generally unable to accept returns or exchanges for reasons of personal preference. Please order with care.

Even with chilled delivery, a rapid change in temperature can cause slight seepage. This does not affect the quality of the wine, and we are unable to offer an exchange or refund in such cases. Every bottle is visually checked before packing.

Where the fault is ours, returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery.
We are unable to help after that period, so thank you for your understanding.

Return postage

Where the fault is ours — a faulty bottle or the wrong item — we cover the cost of return. Returns and exchanges for reasons of personal preference are not accepted.

Faulty items

If anything arrives faulty, we will replace it with a new bottle or an equivalent, subject to availability.

About the producer

Domaine Vincent et Alexandre Cluzel

[Rhone treasures born from family ties and passion]

After receiving his BTS in Viticulture and Oenology in 2002, Vincent Cluzel studied and gained experience in viticulture in Condrieu, before founding his own domaine in 2004. He rented vineyards around Chavannay and began cultivating grapes there, which have now expanded to 10 hectares.

The first vintage was in 2013, producing Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and Côte-Rôtie, and in 2017, his brother Alexandre Clurzel joined the family.

Alexandre holds a BTS in Viticulture and Oenology and, after gaining extensive experience in Burgundy, Jura and the Rhône, joined the Domaine in September 2013 for his first harvest and vinification.

In 2015, he spent five months in the McLaren Vale region of Australia, close to the famous Barossa Valley and the city of Adelaide, learning about alternative winemaking methods for Syrah and different vineyard management practices and cultures.

After this rewarding experience, he returned to the farm and officially joined the Domaine in 2017, working with Vincent to found "EARL Vincent et Alexandre CLUZEL."

As two passionate winemakers, they embarked on the creation of a special Côte Rôtie in the same year.

All wines are made exclusively from grapes grown on our own estate, which are hand-harvested. The vineyards are on very steep slopes, so much of the work is done by hand, with some plots being impossible to mechanise.

To improve the quality of the grapes, the leaves are carefully removed from the vines to allow the fruit to breathe, and the yield is controlled by green harvesting to promote fruit maturity.

We adjust processing times according to the weather and strive to minimize it. We use as few additives as possible in our vinification and ferment with wild yeasts.
