Tasting note

Deep ruby color with purple hues on the rim, suggesting youthfulness and concentration. The aroma of concentrated black fruits such as black cherries and ripe plums rises from the glass. Over time, dry herbs, violets, a hint of smoke, and limestone from minerals spread in layers. A dense, complex, and elegant aroma. The attack is very smooth and delicate. The deep flavor and lively acidity of Carignan grapes over 100 years old are beautifully harmonized, and the silky tannins give the wine structure and dignity. From the middle to the latter half, a floral and iron-like minerality emerges, and the aftertaste is very long, fading quietly with a refined acidity.

About this bottle

This wine is made only from Carignan, the finest variety in the Domaine. It is made from grapes over 100 years old that grow on the limestone plateau. This wine is made from beautiful grapes that have been lovingly tended, and is as carefully crafted as if it were hand-sewn. It brings out the unique character of the noble Carignan variety to the fullest, expressing its charm. It is juicy and rich, with smoky, finely textured tannins and a smooth minerality that lingers in your mouth.

Because these are beverages, we are generally unable to accept returns or exchanges for reasons of personal preference. Please order with care.

Even with chilled delivery, a rapid change in temperature can cause slight seepage. This does not affect the quality of the wine, and we are unable to offer an exchange or refund in such cases. Every bottle is visually checked before packing.

Where the fault is ours, returns and exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery.
We are unable to help after that period, so thank you for your understanding.

Return postage

Where the fault is ours — a faulty bottle or the wrong item — we cover the cost of return. Returns and exchanges for reasons of personal preference are not accepted.

About the producer

Domaine Olivier Pithon

[A unique existence, enchanted by the land! A true Grand Vin du Sud]

Originally from Anjou in the Loire Valley, Olivier Pithon grew up in a family of winemakers.

He aspired to become a winemaker at the age of 14, first assisting his grandfather in his hometown of Anjou, then his already famous brother, Joe Piton, in the Coteaux du Layon in Anjou, and spent most of his teenage years working in the vineyards and cellars. At 18, he left the Loire and moved to Bordeaux to study viticulture, opening his eyes to a world of wine very different from that of his home town.

He gained some practical experience in Jurançon and Bordeaux, and further acquired his savoir et faire (artisan's skills) under the tutelage of the genius winemaker Stéphane Durnoncourt, who greatly influenced him in his knowledge of terroir, teaching him "precision, love of work, balance, lightness, and that wine should be made delicately and above all, that it should bring joy." He learned the importance of working in harmony with nature, something he had never learned at school, and the importance of reflecting the individuality of the land and grape varieties.

Olivier's desire to create his own wines was born, and he began searching for a place where he could fulfill his passion for wine and terroir. In 2000, he visited the small village of Cars, where he met Gérard Goby. The high altitude, constant winds, and complex soils of the area immediately convinced him that this was the place to produce delicate and elegant wines. Enamored by the land, Olivier purchased 8.5 hectares of vineyards with old vines. He adopted organic farming methods from the start, and received organic certification in 2002, and biodynamic certification in 2010.
