Domaine Jeannin-Naltet

【Craftsmanship and history at the very heart of Mercurey】

Domaine Jeannin-Naltet is an estate of long standing, based on a single holding in the village of Mercurey in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise. Within the appellation's 650 hectares it owns seven hectares of Premier Cru vineyard on the most favoured marl and limestone slopes.

In 2011 Benoît Echard took over the domaine from his uncle, arriving by an unusual route: he trained as an engineer at Arts et Métiers. Marrying theory to practice, he works the vines and the cellar with a light, meticulous hand, drawing out everything this celebrated terroir has to give.

Chief among his holdings is the rare monopole Premier Cru "Clos des Grands Voyens". These scarce climats are farmed with exacting care, and every stage of vinification is reconsidered from vintage to vintage — an art of detail that runs from picking through to the finished wine.

The domaine is also one of the few remaining to distil and age the traditional Burgundian spirits — Marc, Fine and Ratafia — in its own cellars.

Pinot Noir goes into the reds, Chardonnay and Aligoté into the whites, giving wines that combine the generous power of the terroir with real delicacy of fruit.

Forward-looking yet humbly attentive to its land, this is a domaine that embodies the essence of Mercurey.
