A true maritime terroir. Picpoul Blanc has been rooted in the Thau Lagoon basin since the 14th century. It is an ancient and iconic variety that ripens somewhat late and really shows its character in this region. It has adapted well to the Mediterranean climate, which allows it to retain a beautiful freshness that is especially perfect with the saltiness of Bouziges oysters, but that's not all. Typical of this region, the harvest is done in two stages: first to obtain lively acidity, and then to bring out complexity.

Owning & Enjoying

Tasting notes
Its bright colour has hints of green and aromas of citrus, lime and grapefruit. It is lively and well-balanced on the palate, and is rare for a Picpoul de Pinet in that it has a beautiful, lingering finish.

Pairing
Seafood and shellfish, cod fritters, fish stew

Production

Night harvest in two stages, one for freshness, the other for aromas, fermentation at low temperatures, aging on fine lees.

About the Winery

La Croix Gratiot

La Croix Gratiot

The 33-hectare vineyard is located on the clay-limestone hills surrounding the Thau Basin, benefiting from the sea breezes and the scents of the garrigue. This terroir is rich in colors: the reds and yellows of the clay-limestone soil, the greens of the garrigue, and the blues of the sky and the Thau lagoon. The Mediterranean climate allows the grapes to reach optimal ripeness and fully express their typicity.
