One of the four single vineyards that the prestigious Jacquesson, which even captivated Napoleon, only produces in excellent years. The stage is the village of Dizy, on a steep, south-west facing slope near the top of "Dizy Mountain," a mere 1-hectare plot called "Corne Bautray." Chardonnay vines planted in 1960 take root in soil containing clay and millstone (quartzite) gravel, spread over a Campanian chalk layer. It boasts a slightly deeper straw color, renowned for its richness and depth. The aromas of fresh pineapple, candied citrus, and toasted brioche are layered with nuances of licorice and bitter orange. This eloquent bottle, gracing any table, combines creamy bubbles nurtured by nine years of long aging on lees with a tension of minerality.
