PULIGNY MONTRACHET 1ER CRU COMBETTES 2015 DOMAINE DUJAC

This is a white wine from Puligny, made by Dujac, a renowned red wine producer from Morey-Saint-Denis, under a fermage (lease) agreement since 2014. "Combettes" is a Premier Cru vineyard located on the northernmost tip of Puligny, on a southeast-facing slope at an altitude of 230-320m, bordering Meursault to the north. Its soil combines the sharpness of Puligny with the richness of Meursault. 2015 was a warm and excellent vintage with a sense of full ripeness, resulting in concentrated fruit and a rich structure.

Tasting Notes

A brilliant golden color, on the verge of maturity. The aroma unfolds in layers of quince, apricot, honey, and roasted hazelnuts. The palate is full-bodied, with a smooth texture underpinned by a firm acidity. The finish is long, with minerals and a subtle spice from the oak. This vintage shows high potential; while satisfying now, it will become even smoother in 3-5 years.

Viticulture and Winemaking

• A renowned red wine domaine based in Morey-Saint-Denis, it acquired Puligny's Folatières and Combettes under a fermage (lease) agreement in 2014, producing a small quantity of white wine.
• Fully transitioned to organic farming in 2001, certified in 2011, and introduced biodynamic methods from 2003.
• All grapes are hand-harvested, mobilizing approximately 60 pickers during harvest season.
• The degree of destemming is adjusted according to the vintage, sometimes including some whole clusters.
• Uses only natural yeasts and aims to avoid excessive oak influence.
• Pneumatic press is used for pressing.
• Barrel aging lasts 14-18 months, with a relatively high proportion of new oak.
• Combettes is a 6.7-hectare Premier Cru vineyard, bordering Champs Canet to the upper part and Les Referts to the lower part.
