Les Amoureuses, the highest-ranking Premier Cru vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny. The 2010 vintage by Pousse d'Or, located in the upper section bordering the Grand Cru Musigny, was a challenging year with heavy frosts in December, irregular flowering, and a risk of botrytis in August. However, good weather in September ultimately balanced concentration and acidity, making it a "gourmet vintage." The structure and transparency created by the small, thick-skinned berries further accentuate the feminine and delicate character of Les Amoureuses.

Tasting Notes

The appearance is a clear garnet, beginning to show brick-red hues. The nose offers dry rose and violet floral notes, layered with nuances of game and forest floor from aging, with hints of redcurrant compote in the background. On the palate, supple and silky tannins melt on the tongue, while the vibrant and firm acidity supports the overall structure. The mid-palate leads to a long finish of undergrowth and spice, with a quiet and elegant conclusion. It is at its peak of maturity now, and the aromas will open up with temperature and time after uncorking.

Food Pairings

Viticulture and Vinification

  • Producer: Domaine de la Pousse d'Or (Volnay, managed by Patrick Landanger since 1997)
  • Les Amoureuses is located on an east-facing upper slope bordering Musigny, with soil composed of red clay and fractured limestone.
  • Biodynamic practices are employed, with regular plowing and no use of pesticides or herbicides.
  • Hand-harvested, with rigorous sorting on a sorting table.
  • Destemmed, followed by one week of cold maceration, then fermented in tanks with wild yeasts.
  • Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (approximately 30% new oak).
  • Bottled without fining or filtration, with minimal addition of sulfites.
  • In 2010, after overcoming heavy frosts in December and the risk of botrytis in August, only highly concentrated fruit was used after careful selection.
