Presented in a majestic jeroboam-sized bottle, the 2010 is a great vintage symbolizing the golden age of the Médoc. Rich fruit notes of cassis and black cherry are layered with complex aromas of cedar, spice, and pencil lead, creating a palate that combines power and refinement. Fine, silky tannins and lively acidity form the backbone, while a refined minerality tightens the finish. Its large scale promises long-term aging, making it a supreme wine worthy of a special dinner.

Tasting Comments

Tasting Notes
The wine has a deep garnet color with a youthful violet hue on the edges. The aroma is extremely complex, with dark fruits such as cassis and blackberry, as well as violet, licorice, cedar, tobacco, pencil lead, and even hints of graphite and truffle.

The palate is imposing, combining the power and elegance of the 2010 vintage. The concentrated fruit and firm acidity are perfectly balanced, while the fine-grained yet powerful tannins lead to a long, lingering finish. Notes of dark chocolate, spice, and minerality emerge in the latter half, culminating in a tense finish.

Thanks to the slow aging process characteristic of Jeroboam, it retains its youthfulness even now, yet has the potential to develop even greater depth and complexity over the coming decades.

Pairing
Roasted lamb on the bone Provencal style, grilled beef rib roast with truffle sauce, game dish (roasted venison with red wine sauce)

Technical Data

Léoville-Las-Cases boasts an extremely complex terroir. Its base is primarily Quaternary gravel, with underlying soils of sandy, gravelly and clayey soils. Additionally, clay layers of varying depth and compactness are scattered throughout, sometimes even emerging at the surface. The proximity of the Gironde River has contributed to the formation of this diverse soil through sedimentation over a long geological period. Furthermore, the river creates a unique microclimate, favoring early ripening of the grapes and protecting the vineyards from frost. This complex combination of geological factors influences the development of the vines and the composition of the fruit, resulting in a unique terroir that gives each Grand Vin its unique character.
